On-Campus Resources

Tutorial Learning Center (TLC), Houston Hall 113, 970.248.1392
The TLC provides tutoring for most essential learning courses and is open to all students. Tutoring includes helping students understand the work/concepts they are working on as well as developing study skills, test taking strategies and time management skills. The TLC also has computers that students may use for research, writing essays and printing.

Veteran Laptop Rental Program

If you are a veteran or dependent taking classes at CMU, you will be given an opportunity to rent a laptop for the semester. 

The rental fee:

Spring and Fall semesters $50

Summer semester $25

We currently have 20 laptops left for rent. You will sign a contract stating you will return the laptop by the due date or you will be charged the entire amount of the laptop.  The rental fee will be placed on your student account and can be paid with your FASFA.  IT will be doing all repairs on the laptops, should they need it.  

TI-83 Calculator rentals are $10 per semester and $5 for Summer.

Educational Access Services offers accommodations to students with documented disabilities. EAS can provide extra time in an environment with reduced distractions for test taking, along with accommodations based on each individual's needs.

Student Veterans Association (SVA), 970.248.1739
The Student Veterans Association at Colorado Mesa University is a student veteran-run club. The SVA is part of Student Veterans of America, a national organization. It is a way to connect with other veterans. Dependents are welcome. The mission of the SVA is to provide military veterans with the resources, support and advocacy needed to succeed in higher education and after graduation.

The Veteran's Lounge (VL) supports the Student Veterans Association’s mission by offering comradely, peer-to-peer mentoring and networking opportunities. The VL is open Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5pm.

Career Services provides resources and guidance for students and alumni in their journey toward reaching their career goals. The staff takes an active role in providing career exploration, workshops, fairs and on-campus employer visits to encourage students to investigate and gain information while establishing their career path.

The Director of Student Advocacy and Health supports students’ needs through emotional mentoring and connecting students with resources on and off campus.

Community Resources

  • Tom Ziemann – OIF/OEF Case Manager, 970.263.5058
    Tom Ziemann works with veterans to connect them with appropriate resources through the VA and within the community. He provides case management, social work and coordination of resources for Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) veterans. He can assist with enrollment at the VA, along with coordinating medical and alternative resources.

The Vet Center provides readjustment counseling services to all veterans and their families with military-related issues. Counseling for PTSD, sexual trauma and reintegration are free. They can assist with applying for VA benefits and finding VA and community resources.

Ryan Morris assists in providing education benefits for service-connected disabled veterans. He assists veterans in overcoming obstacles to employment and provides assistance with education benefits for job training.

Provides alternative therapy to veterans including painting, photography, music lessons, woodworking and several other options. These services provide a therapeutic outlet and build community among veterans.

Suicide and crisis counseling hotline.

Combat Call Center, 1.877.927.8387
This hotline can be used 24 hours a day for veterans needing readjustment and crisis counseling. This is an after-business hours number that can make referrals to the VA Medical Center and the Vet Center.
